My Opinions
I’m not saying that I’ll vote for him just because he’s black. I still have to check out his policies and track record. Plus, the man hasn’t even official put his bid in (i.e. announced his candidacy) yet for the 2008 elections. There are still 2 whole career defining years between now and the casting of ballots. What I am saying is that he looks promising. Take a minute and read up on this guy, he’s pretty interesting (for example, he’s a Grammy Award winner!) [Wikipedia] I’m serious, READ IT.
I don’t think that America at Large will be ready for a black candidate by 2008, but I can hope. That being said, I think he should run anyway. The exposure would make him more of a household name and strengthen his shot at the 2012 Presidency, if he were so inclined to run. Even if he doesn’t, more positive black people actively involved in politics will help usher in an era where minorities (and women) have a shot.

Obama at the signing of his Federal Funding Accountability and Transparency Act of 2006. I shouldn’t have to point him out…
This is YOUR Country
Ultimately, all of the candidates work for you, the citizen. The act of election is analogous to hiring an employee. I encourage all of our readers to act like the bosses of this country. That means vote and vote intelligently. Learn about the candidates BEFORE election day. If you spent 15 minutes a day, only on weekdays for the next two years learning about YOUR government, then by election day you’d have more than 130 hours of information to use to make an informed decision. 15 minutes is nothing… I spend more time than that on YouTube before lunchtime.
So put in the effort. We don’t want to be stuck with another Dubbya Bush running the show for the next 8 years.
