You know what grinds my gears? People who begin sentences with “I’m no designer” or “I’m no artist” or “I’m not a visual person”, then proceed to give design, art and visual communication based advice.

This happens to me all of the time in the course of my job. I just want to say, “excuse me, I’m no expert on sounding stupid, but I think you should shut the hell up.”

I mean seriously people, it seems to me that by caveatting your statement by announcing your lack of expertise is a sure-fire way of getting your suggestions ignored. So either don’t do it or keep your obviously lackluster advice to yourself.

Good day.
