Xzibit's Concentrate

Apparently, between pimping rides and popping up in every movie even remotely involving a rapper, Xzibit has found time to keep making music.

The fact that I didn’t even know he had a new album coming out is almost a testament to how out of the loop I am, but the fact is the West Coast artists don’t get many spins here in the Dirty South. So, I’m a little surprised to see the new video for Concentrate; and I have to say that I’m a little impressed.

The video feels like a Wu-Tang Clan video but better, featuring a Buddhist chant over a pretty mechanical beat combined with high flying martial arts and an Asian aesthetic. Only a Wu-Tang video wouldn’t have hot women to complete the Rap Video Package™.

The last Xzibit album that I listened to from open to close was Restless (released in 2000); and I’m glad to see that Mr. X to tha Z is still doing his thing. Most likely, I’m gonna give this new album a listen… you know, for old time’s sake.

Gnarls Barkley – Live in Atlanta

I arrive at the Tabernacle in Atlanta, GA at about 7:45pm, it’s been a long day at the end of an even longer week. Seeing Gnarls Barkley perform live has been the light at the end of the tunnel that’s keep my spirits up these past few days, so I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t as giddy as a school girl. But I was playing it cool.
